Doha, Qatar: The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani chaired the regular meeting of the Cabinet, held at its headquarters in the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday morning, April 1, 2026.
Following the meeting, the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi stated the following:
At the beginning of the meeting, the Cabinet commended the fraternal visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Jeddah last Monday, and His Highness's discussions with his brother, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, regarding the latest regional and international developments, and the efforts being made to de-escalate tensions and enhance security and stability in the region, in light of the continued Iranian aggression and the challenges and repercussions it poses. The Council affirmed that the discussions, held within the framework of coordination and consultation between the two brotherly countries, reflected the depth of their fraternal and strategic relations and their shared commitment to strengthening joint action.
The Council commended the trilateral meeting held in Jeddah, which brought together HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani; HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and HM King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. During the meeting, the three leaders discussed the challenges and repercussions of Iranian aggression and emphasized the importance of continuing close coordination and consultation regarding various developments. They stressed the necessity of unifying efforts and coordinating positions to confront current challenges, thereby contributing to the preservation of the region's security and stability, and safeguarding the sovereignty of its states and the interests of its peoples.
The Cabinet also commended the fraternal visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, and his discussions with HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the sisterly United Arab Emirates. These discussions reflected the strength of the fraternal relations and strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries. They covered the latest developments on the regional and international scenes, efforts to contain tensions and enhance security and stability, and ways to reduce escalation in light of the rapidly unfolding events in the region, the continued Iranian aggression and its security repercussions, and its impact on global energy supplies and market stability. During these discussions, emphasis was placed on the importance of intensifying joint coordination to protect security and safeguard national interests, and to support peaceful efforts aimed at containing the escalation.
The Cabinet welcomed the fruitful discussions held by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani with HE President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine last Saturday during his working visit to Doha.
The Cabinet affirmed that the Qatari-Ukrainian summit talks, which addressed the Iranian aggression against the State of Qatar and several other countries in the region, the latest developments in the Ukrainian crisis, the development of bilateral relations, and the signing of a defense cooperation agreement between the Qatari Ministry of Defense and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, reflected the deep-rooted relations and evolving partnership between the two countries. These discussions also opened new horizons for strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, for the benefit of their friendly peoples, and contributing to the enhancement of international peace and security.
The Cabinet then reviewed the items on its agenda, approving a draft law on the oversight of fuel stations and referring it to the Shura Council. The draft law, prepared by QatarEnergy in coordination with the Permanent Committee for Monitoring Fuel Filling and Storage Stations, aims to regulate oversight of fuel filling and storage stations. It seeks to promote the use of necessary measures to protect the environment, public health, and community safety and security, and to define the obligations of owners and operators of fuel filling and storage stations regarding the application of health and safety standards and technical specifications at these stations and their associated facilities.
The Cabinet also approved a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic in the fields of diplomatic studies and training.
The Cabinet concluded its meeting by reviewing four reports and making appropriate decisions regarding them: Report No. (62) on the outcomes of the National Committee for the Prohibition of Weapons; Report No. (21) on the outcomes of the Permanent Committee for Monitoring Fuel Filling and Storage Stations; a report on the outcomes of participation in the 37th meeting of the Committee for Agricultural Cooperation and Food Security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States; and a report on the outcomes of the participation of the State of Qatar's delegation, headed by His Excellency the Minister of Labor, in the eighth ministerial meeting of the member states of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue.
